Local authorities and local enterprise partnerships have a vital role to play in coordinating, facilitating, and delivering the transition to net zero.

Greater South East Net Zero Hub is a collaboration of eleven local enterprise partnerships, funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The Net Zero Hub is working towards a sustainable future for the region, by supporting local authorities, other public sector organisations and communities in their efforts towards decarbonisation and clean growth. It aims to increase the number of local net zero projects, and the quality and scale of these actions, to minimise carbon emissions and maximise economic and social benefit

The 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) took place in Glasgow in November 2021. As part of this global event, the Greater South East Net Zero Hub initiated the development of case studies, to showcase the action towards net zero being undertaken in the region. It also supported local authorities and local enterprise partnerships in the region to host roadshows to inspire the transition to net zero at local level.
